Default Engine movement

How much do you think the engine moves forwards?only reason I'm asking is because I was going to mount the oil filter/housing on the inner side of the crossmember.theres reasons for mounting there.
When mounted there's about 7-8mm of clearance in front of the alternator pulley.

What do you think?it will be ok or I'm a crazy fool for even considering it :-)

Surely it doesn't move forward much - if at all??
There'll be lateral movement, but not much going forward.

There's a bump stop fastened to the subframe at the front of the sump to stop excessive forward movement under heavy braking, make sure it's still in place, you can just make it out on this pic,

7-8mm isn't a lot and you'll be surprised how much an engine will move forward under heavy braking from 60 plus so it will also depend on the condition of you engine mounts, check the gap to the bump stop to see how much movement there is, also stick a lump of blue tack on the canister then check it for marks after a few braking sessions

Stiffer engine mounts will significantly reduce the amount of available flex under braking.
