Now I am confused also....
I have had my S2000 since July. She has been using a bit of oil, and when I when to the dealer to get a top up kit, they again recommended Castrol SLX 0W-30. As it has been serviced by the same dealer since new, I assumed that they would recommend the same oil used in it previously.
Should I stick with this till the next service and then change to something else? If so, what? There are so many mentioned in the previous posts, and should I always use fully synthetic, or semi synthetic.
Non complicated opinions would be welcome!

The accepted wisdom is fully synthetics are "better" than semi synthetics.

Any good quality 0W 30 or 5W 40 synthetic oil will be fine. If the dealer sold you SLX it's old stock as all Castrol Synthetics are now branded as "Edge"

As I said in a previous post buy a reassurningly expensive synthetic oil from your dealer. Preferably in 1 litre bottles. The same stuff is available in Halfords and usually cheaper.

From the Castrol Web site

[QUOTE]Hi guys.
Am I lucky..?
I've had my S2K now since 1st Sept.
I've run it in as per recommendations here.
I check oil every time I fill up.
So far it hasn't used a drop.
Is this unusual, or are the engines getting more ec
onomical??

my previous car (accord type-r) just demolished vast quantities of mobil 1 rallysport when i first bought it - it was the most expensive oil i could buy so i thought it would be the best and it was also the dealer advice. turned out the engine preferred a cheaper, semi-synthetic 10w-40 magnatec and after that it never used a drop. i'm assuming the s2k engine will do the same so it's magnatec that goes in.

2 weeks in and what a brill car, major improvement on the ATR!

I'm puzzled by this too.
I have owned the car for a year/4000+ miles and the oil still looks clean on the dipstick.
It is still up to the top mark and I have not added one single drop while I have owned it.
As stated above the >04 models used hardly any oil. I added only 100ml in my first 6 months, and about 150ml in the last 6 months. All with a lot of VTEC

I've had my S over 4 years now and have recently changed to Magnatec.

Oil consumption has more or less stopped now.

The two oils in the new edge range that I would recommend are as follows:

Castrol Edge 0w-30
Castrol Edge Sport 0w-40

The Edge is more expensive than the Sport because it's a better oil.

Cheers
