Default Engine revs........help

Been noticing over the last wee while that if, for example, when iam sitting in traffic and pull away for a small distance, still in first gear, when I come to a stop my engine revs drop to about 200-300, the car begins to stall then they pick back up and level out to about 700 ish. Doesnt happin all the time, just now and again. Was thinking possibly one of the sensors on the way out but not sure.Anybody any ideas ?????

Ps. cars revs usually sit about 900-1000

Hi MadMan - this can be quite a few things.

There are some basic checks you can do in the link in my signature below.

My first S2000 used to do it quite a bit and was cured by a new MAP sensor. It can be other things though...

No probs. It is a tricky one! i've heard of someone having this and it was the air con clutch sticking and dragging load from the engine! But the easy things to check are in that link. Let us know how you get on.

MArk the link to MAP Whack in section 7 of that link takes me to a "You cant view this page" error.

Why is that please?

Good spot - I will find it. Thought a man of your skills wouldn't need tapping advice

I would use the end of a screwdriver if you are going to do it.

just get some carb cleaner from halfords and spray it in the air filter while reving , cleans up the sensors and also the throttle body
