Why did the US get a 2.2 and the UK a 2.0? Whats the difference apart from capacity?

Don't know really and you'll only get theories here.

US sell the most S2000's accross the world - perhaps they were trying something out

Americans like more low down grunt - but the 2.2 doesn't really do that.

I read somewhere that it was because they wanted more torque, which it offers, only slightly more IIRC!

I know!

Emissions!

The F20C will not meet the latest reduction in emission in the US (driven by the hippies in California!) It has recently caught up with Japan who now also get the F22C from 07.

I suspect we may get it, maybe 08 as they seem to upgrade the S every two years in the UK

So it's emmisions then!

So what extra torque does it give over the 2.0 litre then?

Is it still the same top end bhp (237)?

Performance is not very different.

There's a load of chat about it in S2000 Talk between the septics, some like it some don't. and it only revs to 8k

Don't know about anybody else, but I bought the car because it was different, it revves to 9000, surely thats the whole point of it.

If you want a lower revving car buy a boxster or something else.

Next they will be shoehorning a supra engine into it!!
