Default Engine Torque Damper

I've had an ingalls 'stiffy' etd fitted for a few months now over which period, due to the volumne of traffic and relatively short journeys, I've never ventured much above 70mph.

However, having driven to the Alps recently I noticed a vibration which became apparent above 80mph but which didn't get any worse as the speed increased above 80mph. It was difficult to pinpoint the cause, due to a variety of road surfaces, but it felt more engine vibration than wheel balance (like a background vibration). I've been to Skid Marques/Hutton this week to have the geo checked and all was OK and I've also adjusted the ETD to midway between soft & hard but to no avail.

As mentioned it doesn't feel like a wheel balance issue (and the guys at S/M agreed) so I've not had the wheels balance as the car will be off the road in a day or so, and up on axle stands, for the next 6months winter (I didn't see much point in balancing now as I'll being doing it for sure next april).

It's not really critical at the moment (just irritating), but I would like to be prepared for any remedial work next spring.

If it's as a result of fitting the ETD then I'll have to either live with it or remove the ETD (which would be a shame as it's really tightened up the transmission).

Car is a stock 2007 with 33K on the clock.

Any mbrs comments or thought would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Paul

PS: Hope the topic doesn't 'ramble' to much

Yes a good thought which had crossed my mind (being a bit lazy I guess; but a post on the forum seemed quicker than getting out my spanners at this stage)

It is, but at least you'll get a definitive answer instead of risking all sorts of random shit being posted.

I hope it's not due to the etd as I was thinking of getting one. Anyone else have the same experience?

Well quite frankly, you'd be mad not to expect an increase in NVH if you anchor the engine down more firmly.

Unless you're using whizzy modern fluid-filled/active mountings.

Ya i noticed the same in the Silverstone S, it vibrated the dash. I confirmed it by doing the above and disconnecting the engine side.
