Interesting thread above. In conclusion I think carry out the typical things, trans fluid change, clutch fluid change and thorough bleed, adjust rod freeplay, and finally shift above 4-5k. |
People grumble about the same thing on BRZ/86 forums. A-W AZ6 'box again...
All you can do is spend longer in neutral. |

Interesting thread above. In conclusion I think carry out the typical things, trans fluid change, clutch fluid change and thorough bleed, adjust rod freeplay, and finally shift above 4-5k. Change the transmission oil. Change the clutch fluid and gravity bleed the system. Adjust the clutch master cylinder free play to minimum. Change both gear stick bushes and regrease. Regrease the gear box splines and fork using good quality high temp grease. I personally went down the road of gearbox out and put in a new clutch, in addition to all of the above. This obviously is down to personal choice cost/mileage/clutch issues etc. Not had a single issue since. |
If you don't mind the risk of a non-spec gear oil this is my go-to fix for recalcitrant manual 'boxes:

It's GL4 and the viscosity seems close to the Honda stuff so should be safe to use.

Also what were your particular symptoms? I feel a slight catch as I enter the gate to third. Not a grind and it goes into gear after a momentary pause whilst engaging. |
