very good price i wonder if you could help me out then mate, im looking to get some tyres for my new wheels (MY04+ 17's), i want the eagle f1 GSD3, but for the fronts i can only find 'extra load' tyres on the event website. Will these make any difference to the car? did you get these or did you get the GSD2's? ive looked on other tyre sites and they all state extra load!

cheers

Paul

Why do you want to change from the OEM RE050s? They're much better year-round tyres than the S02s from the 99-03 S2000.

I suspect you're thinking of S02s that were OEM fitment on 99-03 cars - they aren't great in the cold and wet and so a number of MY99-03 owners swapped them for F1 Eagles or Toyos.

The RE050 on the MY04+ is a different design and considerably better in the cold and wet than S02s. I had no problems with winter driving when I had my 04 - much more sure-footed than my 02 had been on S02s.

The RE050 is a great tyre If you are on stock 17's stick with them. Good grip in wet and dry and reasonably durable

oh right, i will reconsider my options then! (the f1's were cheaper though which was influencing my decision!). i take it i should stay clear of the extra load tyres then?

This probably sounds stupid, but i never kept a car long enough to actually buy tyres so its all new to me! thanks for your help

with Lee and Mark

RE050 are good tyres - stay with them!

They are more durable than F1's and good on all conditions from track to standing water.

AVS Sports are the best tyre I have used on 17" wheels ..... and I have tried a few

Sadly the correct size for 17" wheels is now *very* hard to get hold of (but I have a new set tucked away in my loft)
