Default In EVO this month...

The new EVO arrives and I settle for a read. There's a long-term Merc SLK run by Ian Eveleigh (who's usually good) and he does a decent article about top-down winter driving until he moans about convertible drivers who have the roof up in decent weather, adding "Yes, Honda S2000 owners, I mean you".

WTF?

It's nearly 2 years since I moved out of my last S. However, I drove it top down as much as possible because, well, that's the point of it, isn't it? I recall a day of snow, going home roof down and getting a great double take from a guy in a Golf.

The S is not a lifestyle car, rarely driven by WAGS, in my limited experience, whereas the Z4 and Boxster are often seen roof up.

Disappointing from EVO, which has been a bit less up itself recently (by some irony there's a good "buy a drop top for a grand" feature this month.)

Anyway, Happy New Year all. Curry on its way, beer open, new S in new year? Could be!

Cheers all.

I read that too.. made me chuckle! Love evo, great mag.

I guess its a matter of opinion really, the top down/top up motoring thing- personally i've never quite understood why you wouldnt want a roof on a car. I dont currently have an S, but considering one.. if i were to get one i'd permanently remove the softtop and leave the hardtop on.

I used to subscribe to Evo but stopped after the 'Shell' issue.

I don't miss it.

He's probably confusing it with the MX-5. MX-5s *always* have the roof up on hot sunny days.

As an ex S2000 owner, I still think the S2000 is THE car where I see the roof down more often than any others.

I have had two S2K's and always got the roof down at every opportunity !

I cancelled my sub to Evo yesterday - it is not what it was ....

Evo has declined in quality a huge amount since i first sub'd.

That said, i will admit to only really being interested in the write-ups about supercars and the delights of ownership. The almost rudely aristocratic edge they give to a lot of it makes me smirk.

Ah well!
