Whoever said it makes no difference, take the airbox lid off, stick on a HFC or decat and try again...

Hi,

Sorry, I know this is probably a stupid question but I got to page 4 and gave up looking for an answer. To do this mod, I understand you weld the pipe but do you drill holes in the exhaust at the pipe locations before you weld the pipe on? You must have to drill or cut a hole otherwise you would just be adding a pipe without an air path. Is thete a DIY for this anywhere?

You are right, it is a stupid question!
Of course there are holes, the small pipe is a bypass pipe, it wouldn't bypass anything if there were no holes.
The hole should be very close to the diameter of pipe you are using.

OK, if of course there are holes it's funny they weren't mentioned in the first 4 pages of the thread. Thanks for clarifying.

Assuming you're in the Hants area as I think I read that you use TGM, Longlife in Basingstoke did my exhaust mod for £60. Well worth it to save you the hassle........

I'm in hertfordshire but don't mind a journey to take my car to a decent place, I've added it to the list of things for TGM to do this saturday if they have time. I could fabricate the tubes no problem but I'm not a welder and don't have access to welding equipment. Good to know that £60 is a rough price, cheers.
