yes.. have had better quality stuff. but it costs more than just a few % more is what I'm getting at.

it's like this spring water shyte. it's all water, the difference is miniscule.

bp ultimate/that shell stuff is a placebo, any difference it has/makes is so insignificant as to be immaterial in my opinion. otherwise it would be a lot more expensive.
you will find that the higher ron fuel has more effect in some cars than others. I can notice the difference between optimax and sainsburys 97 ron in my s2000, but only in improved throttle response.

in my old mr2 turbo, running optimax instead of 95 ron unleaded meant that the ecu would allow me another 3psi of boost, and fuel economy improved by about 4mpg.

not an insignificant gain obtained purely from a petrol.

I really would like to put all you brand junkies through a blind test. I'm convinced you couldn't all tell the difference ...

Can't see what the fuss is about, assuming the wrong fuel was just usual unleaded.
I ran mine over 1000 miles before realising you were supposed to use higher RON... can't say i've noticed any difference either way.
There is a thread about this on the S2KI forum aswell, includes people who are thru 30k+ miles and only ever used regular unleaded, although i do use 97 or Optimax now.

Ooops.. just visited the link and saw it was diesel

Bring back public flogging for the perpetrators of this evil deed!

Diesel in an unleaded pump. Numpties.

Note to any optimax sceptic...
You know when you open your petrol flap and it says in there "only use 98 ron" "if you use 95 ron your hair will fall out and you will become impotent"
Well ... They know best.

Sadly I've not found any Tesco 99ron yet.
Is it labeled at the pump?
