My biggest concern with the alternative warranty is what if the coverer went bust, Ive never heard of easycover? are they backed by a reputable company?

Once paid for extended warranty for a Sattelite system with Colourvision who at that time seemed to be a fairly respectable company. They went bust and lo and behold my sattelite system also bust not long after.

A lesson learned.

On all electrical stuff, I underwrite my own risk. With a car, that could prove very costly so I will be taking up the Honda warranty I think. I've already asked my dealer to let me know what's covered so that I can decide finally (I have until March 2003)

These ain't no regular Hondas. As we all know they are less reliable than your bog standard civic.

That and the fact that my new gearbox under warranty would have cost

I'm in 2 minds about this.
My car will shortly be 3 years old so I have about a week to make up my mind.
Due to the very low mileage of my car I haven't serviced it to the letter i.e. not once per year, but I have changed the oil each year.
Technically any warranty is subject to the service conditions.
I plan to ask my dealer about this when my car goes in for an MOT on Friday.

I don't want to take out an extended warranty only to be told I can't claim on it!

I intend to take the warranty if I keep the car beyond 3 years which is highly likely.

You can renew each year if you wish. There is no age at which Honda will not warranty the car though at 5 years the level of cover drops. Be aware of this if purchasing 3 years cover. I can't say too much without being in breach of confidence but these warranties can be provided far cheaper by Honda than ANYTHING I've seen posted here to date. Don't accept the first price they offer, even if it seems good or is 'reduced this month'

I had a brief chat with my local Honda service engineer about Honda extended warranty.

What I think he was trying to explain to me is that it only covers "Component Failure" and is not nearly as comprehensive as the original 3 year warranty.

Can anyone Confirm, and also what is/isn't covered?
