Facelift owners.. what's your chassis code?
I'm having something of a debate on Reddit over there being no such thing as an AP2 in Europe, being told "AP1 or 2 is the chassis code, it having an f20 in it doesn't change that it's still an ap2".
Having a 2002 doesn't allow me to verify or deny this. So post-2004 owners.. help me out here? Is your chassis code still AP1?

Indeed. There are some Honda-thickos in this world, who won't be told. Like most thickos...
It's the 130 bit which refers to the model and regional variant, eg, 110, 120 and 130 for the facelifts.
Admittedly, Honda doing weird things like 2 x FK2s is just plain confusing. (one's an R18 UFO-Civic and the other's a K20C1 Bagpuss-Type-R).

It's not a chassis code, it's a VIN (vehicle identification number) which has several identifying codes. AP1 is the VIN notation for the 2.0 F20C engine, nothing more. AP2 is the notation for the 2.2 F22C1 engine (again, nothing more). All cars with the F20C engine will have the AP1 engine code as part of their VIN.
North American cars got the AP2 engine at the same time as the "face lift" body panels and AP2 somehow became a convenient shorthand for 2004 and later cars. These cars also received suspension, wheel/tire, and other upgrades many of which were also added to the non-North American cars that retained the F20C (AP1) engine. I think the Japanese cars got the AP2 engine in 2006. Other than the engine and minor differences AP1 and AP2 still generally describe the 2000-2003 and 2004-later cars pretty accurately. Some things (like cruise control) seem to be market specific and aren't covered by the VIN anyway as there are only 17 characters.
1. J (manufactured, Japan)
2. H (manufacturer, Honda)
3. M (passenger car, made in Japan)
4-6. AP1/AP2 (engine)
7. 1 (manual transmission)
8. 4 (grade? -- the CR car may have a different grade?)
9. Check digit
10. Y, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 (model year, y=2000, 1=2001, etc)
11. T, S (manufacturing plant, T=Tochigi, S=Suzuka)
12-17. Production Sequence
