Default Fading Wingmirrors

Ive always heard red cars tend to suffer from fading paint in the sun and it seems my wing mirrors are out to prove the rule

Anyone got any advice on how to fix this? Could they be easily resprayed in Formula Red?

I bought a red car two months ago. When I bought the car I negotiated money off to have the mirrors resprayed as they were really badly faded.

Tried some polish, bit of t-cut but no luck. Then went to Polished Bliss, local to me and bought a proper polishing machine, pads, cutting compound and polish, worked a treat. The entire car looks brand new!

So don't give up

You don't need to spray this phenomenom is known as 'oxidisation' and the red pigments in paint are affected by sunlight and turned pink. As mentioned above you can polish the paint to bring back the lustre no matter how bad it gets, I have a picture here of an friends car I did, I put a piece of tape down the middle so you can see where it was oxidised and how it looked after being machine polished. You cannot remove oxidisation by hand, you need a polishing machine and usually a rotary as a random orbital is not usually powerful enough for this ... though it may be in the right hands. If you know a good detailer, they will be able to do this for you and have your car looking better than showroom finish

Easy dude, invest in a DA Sander/Polisher such as a Kestrel DAS-6 Or meg's G220, and some 3M Fast cut plus, pick up packages for about £120 these days, plus if you offered to do it for other's you'd soon recoup the cost.

Key is afterwards to seal it with a PROPER wax with UV filters, as red paint oxidises with exposure to the sun. Something like Dodo juice Orange crush ( bare in mind this needs topping up every 3-4 weeks ) But leaves a good glossy finish, otherwise opt for something like collinite 915 for longer lasting protection.

Honda paint sits under a clearcoat, you will not be able to polish it back to red... this happened to my Milano Red DC5. Full respray was needed im afraid.

Does anyone still use a single-pack paint these days?
