Thumbs up Final Drive

Is it a gear beyond the selectable ones in the gearbox, that increases or decreases the ratio right before the flywheel hits it? The reason I think so is because in games like Gran Turismo, when you modify the final drive ratio, it modifies the speeds attainable in all gears.

That's my reckoning of it, but I honestly don't have a clue. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Pretty much what you said. A few guys have got the 4.57 which gives faster acceleration but a reduction of the top end. Great mod for the money spent.

It is a trade off between top speed and acceleration.

If you put a bigger gear in the diff it cuts your top speed ..... but you get there quicker.

I think I got a 4.625 one.

What's the standard one? And just how much of a benefit do you get, Steven?

recently watching the Best video's where they compete a couple of S2000's on the track against each other..one with a changed final drive.. it's a pretty impressive difference in grunt out of the corners..

It makes the car feel like it has a lot more torque and improves acceleration.

It does have its downsides. It means your top speed will be ~135mph, you will be changing gear more often and 100Mph in 6th is around 6k revs.

I don't need to use the car every day so it was a good mod for me

I usually stop at 135 on the way to work anyway, as I only have about a 1 mile stretch to play on before I hit traffic and roundabouts. How much did changing it cost you all in?

If you buy a Diff from a breaker (This means your car wont have to be off the road) it will cost around

Not too bad. What would you say your 0-60 and 1/4 mile times are? Is pickup out of VTEC dramatically increased too?
