First day of ownership
06.00 - wake up as giddy as a child at Christmas....... I get my S today, I lean over to the less than impressed girlfriend and whisper 'Santas coming today'
It seems like days pass as the minutes slow down as I wait. Its been around 3 weeks of looking for one, then I stumbled upon you guys and in particular a very helpful guy called Mike. Mike was selling his W plate Silverstone and I was looking for exactly that.
I took the relatively short trip across to Mike's to have a look at this car and was overwhelmed both by its prescence and immaculate condition. Mike is obvioulsy a fanatic, he calls himself a geek for the level of interest and care he affords the car, I call him the perfect car owner. All it took was a look around and a lengthy test drive and I knew this was the one I wanted - I thanked Mike and then went home and PM'd him an offer, after a bit of too-ing and froing it was accepted and I was about to be welcomed into the most friendly group of people with one of the most stunning cars I have driven.
11.30 rolls by, Mike should have picked up his GT by now, its only up the road so he should be here by noon? I try to keep myself occupied by watching TV, taking the bins out, I swear the clock is going backwards.
As I sat on my sofa, neck arched towards the window, I see a most beautiful sight...... 2 S's driving into my close
"He's Here, He's Here" I proclaim to the missus running out the door like the wind
We get the formalities over with and Mike and his good lady go on their way (very good of him to let her drive back too!)
This is it, my first time in the car with it being mine. I adjust the seat, put my shades on
, my girlfriend is talking to me in the passenger side but I can't hear what she is saying, I am too involved, I turn the key, press the starter button and she fires up......mmmmm
We then proceed to go around all the country roads and spend a fair few miles on a couple of bypasses, this feels good. I can't belive so many people look at you and point, I'd read about it but it was really strange, kids, adults and even more so OAP's! This car can captivate any audience, its that simple.
I drop off the missus and go to my mate's house, he has just bought an M3 but likes these cars, we set about a mini road trip driving for miles, we go on the bypass, there is a motorbike behind me so I slow down a bit so he can overtake, he doesn't, I boot it, he gets angry and left behind because he was in the wrong gear, soon enough he shifts down and comes up behind me doing a wheelie, then undertakes me at around 80 (kmph) (him doing considerably more) - I have never had any reaction to any other car from a motorcyclist before?!
Anyway, we trundle over towards Leeds Bradford Airport as I had a cunning plan (anyone who lives near here or is familiar with the area will no doubt know what I am about to do)... there are a couple of long(ish) dual carriageway tunnels next to the airport so I thought I would VTEC through to see what the sound would be like, I simply could not explain it, my mate's mouth was wide open in awe and we both just looked at each other
and said 'Again!'
So after a few blasts through the tunnel we were grinning from ear to ear and then crusied back towards home, which I find the car does equally as well as going like a bat out of hell. I drop off my friend and go out for another half hour or so (they said it would throw it down in the afternoon, but here I was at 5pm and the sun was still shining) and then went home.
I pulled into my drive, looked in the rear view mirror at my slightly reddened face and licked my lips (nobody told me I would get dry mouth syndrome to such an extent!)
I'm in love with this car, I want to spend every waking moment in it. I was up at 7am this morning to take her for an early morning run, it was glorious.
To sum up, I will say what I said to my friend after we went out for a spin, don't know why I said it, it just came out....
This car makes me moist!

It is indeed an amazing few weeks ahead of you where you will drive it wherever you can.
Like the guy said above you do get used to it - but it takes ages. I reckon it took me about 2.5 years (!!) AND I still went on TV and made myself look a complete chisel.
Enjoy the car now, it (and you) will be in your respective elements in this weather.
Be careful when it rains though - its not the best car in the wet.
