Having covered 63,000 miles in 30 months, I feel quite happy to have avoided any expenditure, other than routine servicing and tyres.

This all changed today as the front disks were replaced. The face's were showing signs of warping, and whilst a skim may have corrected the condition, I will then be almost down to service tolerance. So... given I've decided to keep her for another couple of years, bit the bullet and had some nice new shinney ones nailed on.

The bad news was the bill, as combined with Sharons annual civic service on the same day, allowed my friendly Honda dealer to lighten my account by some

Strut bar to pay for

Geo re-done

Road tax

Insurance

All that after xmas, 2 birthdays just b4 xmas and a new shower at the start of jan..

And still thinking of up-grading the car stereo gear and getting a private plate.

Ade - too much money and time!

Those discs seem steep but they will have done the pads at the same time!

Discs are piss to change.

You need, a jack (you have one), a wheel brace (you have one), an impact driver (maybe) but even if you do, a tenner from Hellfrauds. Thats it.

Its so easy to change discs.


Just loosen the wheel. Jack the car. Remove wheel. Remove caliper, unscrew disc, replace disc, replace caliper, replace wheel, lower jack, tighten wheel.

Its proper idiot easy.

Chesh, you forgot to say you need a decent socket set to remove the caliper. After 60,000 miles, those bolts might not take too kindly to being removed

I replaced my discs at 24000 miles, so clearly graybloke isn't braking anywhere near late or hard enough
