This sort of thing needs doing systematically.
I get a lot of PM's on this type of problem, and until you get more info, you are guessing. Idle and cutting out can be dozens of things.
An ECU reset is fine, and has often solved these probs, but sometimes it masks the problem, so you need to rule a few clues out 1st.
Map whacking isnt a good idea. Tap it by all means, but whoever decided to title it "whacking" on here years back needs a whacking too!
