Default First Simple Upgrades

Hi Guys,

Have had my S2000 for a few weeks now and loving it - aside from the wheels, bodykit and a few external mods though the car is totally mechanically standard.

Now treating me as though I am a total newbie - please could you recommend some basic mods that you would carry out in order to firstly improve the stock noise that the car makes (preferably slightly louder), and secondly if I can slightly improve performance, (not talking about supercharging here).

Basically if you were recommending to a complete beginner a couple of easy mods to improve the sound of the car what would it be? Airbox? Exhaust? and if so which ones?

I don't want to improve noise to the detriment of performance in anyway though.....

Cheers,

Nick

Exhaust.

If you want performance consider a single pipe which helps with the weight. The stock exhaust weighs approx 6.3 tonnes. The spoon N1 is light as a feather, along with a decat you can expect 8 or so more horsies

The Spoon N1 is rather nice, but f**kin loud

I love the twin pipes at the rear - so I would def be reluctant to switch to a single pipe option.

Then you'll need to spend fairly heafty money to get a gain and retain the looks. Most duals lose power or remain around the same. Those that are lighter, sound good and give a gain are generally fairly expensive.

You could just get an induction kit (cheap ones will lose you power) and gears (torque at the wheels gain) thus making the engine induction roar louder and the car more accelerative.

If you want more noise, the cheapest and easist thing to do is to remove the airbox lid. The noise that makes, particularly on VTEC is great. You do loose a few horses though and it can make the engine more prone to kangarooing in traffic, but it costs nothing to try.

Can you give any examples of good coices then? The Spoon N1 has already been mentioned - is this a suitable choice?

As long as it's not causing any power loss then I am happy with an exhaust that keeps the same power figure whilst being lighter and noisier.

One of the best twins for improved but not mental sound as well as weight saving is the Amuse Titan Dual, the Mugen is good and there are a couple of others.

Amuse
