First Trackday ...
Got my first trackday on friday (at Hullivgdon airfield) spaces still available I think..
Decided to go on a airport first so much less chance of crashing.
However, i just had to put a new set of tyres on .. all round, front had worn on the inside (which is normal i think) for

On the track day I went on, I went with about 1/2 tread left. A guy in an Evo FQ340 was on new rubber.
By the end of the day, I was barely legal, he was down to about 1/2.
Main problem (IME) is not so much wear across the whole tyre profile, it's the edges of the tyre that get totally knackered.
FWIW, by the end of the day, your tyres will look fcuked. Don't despair, they 'clean up' after 200 or so motorway miles.
Have fun

Normally airfields tend to be more abbrasive than tracks which have smoother tarmac. If you drive smoothly and progressivley allowing maximum of 15 minute stints, couple of cool down laps with no stress on the tyre and leaving for at least 30 minutes betweeen sessions then a couple of mms wear is possible. Do the opposite, go banzai, tail out action, no cool downs and soon out again then you could go through a whole set in a day. If I was minted I'd opt for the later as it's a lot of fun. But there's fun to be had doing the other as well.
Get the tyres worn in first with a few hundred miles under them, I'm told it helps prevent knackering the tyre.
Dont forget to leave the handbrake off, it's so easy to forget when you are pumping full of adrenaline at the end of a session errr
. Warp factor 5 captain.
Warning. Warning. Track Days are addictive.

if the trackday happens to wet, your tyre wear will be minimal. the fun factor will be huge though!
and to repeat previous poster, trackdays are not just addictive, they are very very addictive!
