Default Fitting a hardtop

Hey all,

I've gone through the Techy FAQ and printed two instruction guides that I've found, one from Handa-accessories and another one by HARDtopTOP.

They're quite complex, and I don't think I'm fully equppied?!

I bought a kit off eBay and it came with Left/Right side catchers but no other bolts, or anything...????!
I somehow don't think this is right, I've emailed the guy who I bought it off and he said that's all I need. But it clearly isn't!

I've asked Honda whether they'd fit it, but they said no.. Is there anyone near Mansfield, Nottinghamshire that would be able to help me out? I'd be happy to pay someone to do it, as long as they don't dent, scratch or break my car! -

Or if anyone could put me in the right direction I would be very grateful.

These instructions are just difficult to follow, and without the right pieces(?!) I don't think I can even do it!!?

Thanks in advance .. And sorry if I have posted this in the wrong section! Eep.

The simplest install is to simply bolt on the spike catchers and cut the frame brushes.
Simples
Presuming your'e not bothered about the heat screen, which complicates it!

MmmmMmm...

I've followed the instructions, which was to take off the door sill, then work my way up to the back panels, which I removed.
Then it told me I need to hammer and bend some metal (scary if you don't know what you're doing! )...

I've found this on the forum https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...22&t=540666&st

Looks like it can be easy to follow, but... Hmm.

And I need new bolts?

I didn't get any with mine, just the left and right catchers.

I think I'm just asking for someone to either tell me the list of parts I need, or if I could pay someone to do it for me (please)

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeek!

Thanks in advance

Has either of the catchers got the wiring loom attached?
Have you offered up the catchers, I'm not sure the "hammer" stage is required

From what i can recall the bolts used to secure the catchers are slightly larger than the original bolts already in place and should have come with the catchers.

When I took the plastic off, I placed the catchers where they would fit, and they wouldn't fit without hammering the car - which is sooooo scary............!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AGGGhHh!

But it does say use a hammer in those instructions...? Erm...

One of the catchers has a wire, I think that's for the heated screen. But there's no wire to attach to the car? Er.

I'm just unsure what to do!

I think the guy off eBay sold me a crap kit, it's not even a kit, it's like 1/4 of a kit. I've been sold out...???!

Plastic Sith- I think you're right. When I emailed the guy who I bought it off, he said that it's a tight fitment and told me I didn't need new bolts - me thinks he's deffo lying about it....! I can't even complain now because the auction ended about 2 months ago

I just haven't got round to fitting it, been putting it off for so long now..

I've just read this and Honda say a hammer is required!
And it tells you what bolt sizes!
You are missing part of hte kit which is a loom between the car and the catcher

This is very scary!

No wonder I can't find many posts related to hardtops????

I think from what I gather I'm missing...

Left/Right trim brush
Er, wiring loom?
Bolts
Spacers
Cushion spaces(???!)
Cushion tapes(..errr)...

Errrrrrmmmmm, maybe half the fitting kit then?

I might buy another fitting kit with those actual parts. I dunno! AggH!

If you are just after fitting the hardtop and aren't too bothered about the heated rear window, TBH honest you only really need the bigger bolts. The hammering is a cinch, you just a need a small centre punch and a hammer; the piece of metal you are striking does not need to be shaped a great deal to get the catchers to fit.

The existing left and right trim brushes can be modified so you don't need to buy the hardtop specific ones (depends how precious you are being!)

You only need the cushion tape to tape down the heating windscreen wiring loom (which you seemingly don't have!) and even then, it's not vital.
