Default Fitting a K&N

My plan today is to fit the induction kit I bought off of Y0shi's. I have had a look at Fatbloke's ( Ian) and took a couple of pictures as the instructions are a tad vague. I reckon I will be nipping back in to ask questions as the job progresses.

first question. The instructions say to remove the battery. Is this really necessary?

answer: .....

No don't bother imo!

It's a little bit of a fiddly job but take your time and enjoy fitting it

The instructions are actually pretty good.

It's pretty straightforward. It took me about an hour to do mine.

If I remember correctly there is a mistake in the instructions and it gets the vacuum hoses the wrong way round.

I found the instructions actually pretty good, took it easy and had zero problems.

1) i took photos of any area before i disconnected anything for reference but didn't need them after all and have deleted them.
2) i have MY06, so had to drill a hole into the plastic for one of the sensors. Its all in the instructions so check out if you need to or not and if so its well worth getting the correct drill bit for a few quid. and clear up the hole you make of any left over plastic debris
3) well worth having a towel handy for when you remove one of the coolant pipes as it will spill some fluid, not a disastrous amount though.
4) don't remember any problems with vacuum pipes, probably because of point 1

a job well worth doing for the sound

speaking of which as came off the A419 at the duke of gloucester barracks at Cirencester yesterday - seems there was a steam rally event being held in the air force grounds. I exited the roundabout on wide open throttle because it sounds glorious and up ahead some guys stopped photographing the steam engines in order to photograph me! Not sure how to feel about that, I either sound like a steam engine or better than a steam engine.... lol.

How did you find this out? What were the symptoms?

I ask this as I have just finished the job and although the images on the instruction sheet could have been clearer, They were, as stated on here, fairly straightforward and having given the car a short test drive and everything seems OK. I will get a couple more cable ties to tidy up the compartment and to esure the floppy pipes are clearly away from the pulleys but so far, as I said, everything seems/sounds fine.

I have taken pictures as well. If I have to put it back to stock, I will at least have 1/2 an idea.

Yea the instructions are pretty dire. For the vacuum hoses I just kept an eye on what one connect to what.

got a video of mine stationary but not moving (it needed a new clutch at the time plus I have to wait for a friend to be free as I don't have a video camera).

Money well spent in my opinion!

A steam powered S2000...... I'm pretty sure that'd be a UK first......
