Default Fitting a Modifry

Hi all,

I've received my Modifry DCI and I'll be picking up my new head unit this evening, so I thought I'd take a look at how to fit it. I was expecting the extra adapter to make it 'plug and play', apart from the actual DCI unit wires, of which there are 4 (plus one for the VSS). So, I was expecting to plug the wiring harness adapter into the Honda harness, using the 'extra' wires for the DCI, then plug the Pioneer harness into the adapter, but clearly that isn't going to be the case, as the adapter has a bunch of bare wire ends. Do I have to manually splice these into the Pioneer harness?!

In short, I was expecting:

Honda Harness - -plug- - DCI adapter - -plug- - - - Head Unit
-----------------------------------|
|
DCI & VSS

But it looks like I've got:

Honda Harness - -plug- - DCI adapter - - - Load of bare wires I don't know what to do with
------------------------------------|
|
DCI & VSS

Any help appreciated!

Chris

It's all in the instructions

Honestly - it's easy to work out. The bare wires from the DCI go into the OEM Loom. Take the OEM loom out of the car and splice into that.

Funbox helped me with mine, and once I saw what he was doing I got it, harder to explain typing it out though!

Ah, spot on, v useful. I'm sure it would have made sense once I saw it all in the flesh. It is how I'd imagined it. You cut the plug off the Pioneer loom and connect to the bare wires.

Ta muchly, it's a good pic, that one.

So how come the bit labelled "Head unit wiring harness" isn't a ISO standard connector block? Do they have some different connector standards in the States?

I used that picture but soldered the connections, makes it more compact and much easier to cram in.
Little tip - slide the DCI card down the left hand side of the black box behind the stereo, leaves even more space and tidies the cables up as you slide the HU in.

Funbox soldered all the wires for me, but we did use a terminal strip

He was remarkably attentive to detail putting it all together too, I'd have been a right botch job myself.

Still owe beers for that too!
