Fitting Stereo
I routed my alpine ipod link cable through the centre consol behind the radio, along the transmission tunnel on the left, (pulled out the poppers holding the leather section to the carpet) removed the plastic panel behind the passenger seat (with coat hook & vent) tucked the wire (head unit to box) through the vent from the inside/ to out, re-fitted the panel then velcroed the link box to the front of the panel.... ( sits right behind the seat) tucked the ipod connector wire (box to ipod) back through the vent to hide slack and then when the ipods connected, slot it into the map pocket on the back of the passenger seat...
job done, just tilt the passenger side seat forward to plug it in/out

Does anyone know if it easy to thread the ipod cable through the centre console? Will I have to drill though to let it through to this compartment? How did you get yours in?
If you pull up on the centre console from the back and work your way along to the front you can loosen the whole top up.
I then drilled a hole in the rigid plastic at the front of the console - this can be hidden in future by the ashtray.
The wire then fed under the front of the passanger side of the gear surround, ran along and in through the hole I prepared earlier. You need to watch that it doesn't snag on the handbrake. Then simply snap the top back on from the front.

yes it is the ipod full speed jobby! Alpine CDE-9850Ri. Works very well and is quick - it does take a few secs to start up though. When you're navigationg it finds the tunes quickly. It will take a little while to find your way around the controls.
I also switched it the red illumination - which goes well with my red interior.

All you need to do is pull the clips holding the leather center console cover. Feed the cable along there under the laether behind the seat.
Remove the panel behind the seat with the hooks on to gain access to the back of the compartment.
I drilled a ~10mm hole in the back of the compartment. At that size you will have to feed the cable through from the compartment and and then along the tunnel to the stereo. The Ipod end connector is too big to do it the other way!
