Thumbs up Flat battery....

Okay, last night I had to wait an hour for the RAC to come start my car after it decided not to play ball - flat battery. He told me of the three S2000's he'd been called to in recent months, 2 were due to a flat battery or battery problems, and the third an electrical issue. But after charging and retesting it we couldn't find any problems - I hadn't left the lights or electric seat warmers on for example. The drain was within params of about 200 - 300 milliamps, and after testing the load everything seems fine. Which now leaves me with this lingering doubt in the back of my mind that it may not start when I next need it. Anyone else had an unexplained flat battery? Anything I can check?

Mine had a battery fault the other week. Caused a disco effect when attempting to start. The sudden cold had caused the failed battery to be unable to supply the correct voltage.

interesting that cold may affect the voltage supply. Anyone else found this?

Heated seats are an after-market extra installed by the previous owner - very nice for this time of year though Switch is on the centre console... So nobody ever has battery / electrical problems in the cold I take it? Blimey, must be the heated seats... Disco effect is a good description, though I also had the boot pop open when the battery died - no idea why!

I had a flat battery a few weeks ago. AA took about 30 minutes to turn up, which was no hardship seeing as I was at home.

Caused by a combination of the sudden cold, my car not being a daily driver anymore, and me using the cigarette lighter to power a hellfords air pump a couple of times to put only a couple of psi in my motorbike tyres without turning the engine over!

Its been ok since, I use a sturdy Fiat Tipo beater car for the air pump duties now.

Interestingly if you look at the top of the battery (assuming its the same as mine) it displays its current state. IIRC A blue circle with a red bullseye signifying OK, and a white bullseye for charging. (Don't quote me on this) There's a colour key on top to say what's what.
