Default Front bumper access

Lazy question really.

The radiator cowel / plastic shroud. If you remove it, or even, can it be removed without removing the whole bumper - would it give enough access to the front of the car to fit fog light brackets and allow me to fit a grill to the rear of the front bumper without taking anything else to bits?

Or am i really better off whipping the bumper off

the shroud can come off without taking the front bumper off.. which allows access to the rear of the front bumper. it just a case of bending it and then it can be maneuvered out.

Nice one, that's just what I wanted to hear. I take it just needs a bit of twiddling to get it past the mounts / bonnet catch? Just the bolts you can see along the top and the nuts are captive / part of the bodywork?

there are plastic clip bits towards the front of the bumper that you have to pop, they are a bit of a pig.. sure there is a guide on this site somewhere..
What i did was fold it up, push one side back down into the bumper and this gave me enough room to twist it around a bit to pull it out totally.

UF, I will own up and say I couldn't get it out without resorting to get the bumper off.

Unless you have tiny telescopic hands, you will struggle to get the little balck poppers off which are down inside the plastic shield...

I hate taking the bumper off too as it never seems to go on right!

I can see this being one of those jobs that you'll end up half way through wishing you'd just taken the front bumper off in the first place. I'll give it a go as i'll be working on my own and bumpers usually require two people, if not to remove, always to put back.

Exactly what I found.

See how you get on. I'd try and access the passenger side outer clip first (nearst the headlight) if you can do that one, you shoudl have no probs. But I concluded there was no way I could do it without damaging things, and I couldn't even get to that clip.

Bumper off can be done on your own.

The biggest risk is that when you pull the top part of the bumper out, there are some metal clips which will want to spring back and WILL scratch the paint on the front wing (right by the inner edge of the headlight)

So watch for that one.

I disagree, you ll be fine on your own. It is very light and easy to position.

It looks to be the much the same as the Integra which comes off easy enough, but really needs 2 people to line it up properly.

If you are removing the bumper, make sure you have some padding underneath it, for when it drops on the ground!

It doens't drop from memory, the washer hoses prop it up - then pull off, and about 20 litres fall to the floor

I did the bumper on my firts S on my own, no probs. It's just not a job I like doing.
