3/4 size and in no way shape or form is it legal, mind in 5 years I never got pulled for it.

Here's mine, 100% legal (I think). Standard font, spacing and height, just 6" shorter in width. Ideally I'd like to mount it a little lower, but there are too many holes etc from previous mountings.

I'm also looking to get the front bumper resprayed and the washers removed, so will move it down then.

Whilst on the topic, here's the same size plate on the rear. A subtle change that makes all the difference on a small car like the S2000 in my view, keeps everything in proportion.
