Default Front pads

After a very expensive alignment I'm now thinking I should fit new pads before rockingham. The ebc yellows on at the moment are probably half way through their life.

So should I go for yellows again, or reds which are hard on disks but well proven in my track experience. DS2500 seem hit and miss, DS3000s I have tried are incredible but ruin wheels

Car has BI disks and new rear pads with Castrol SRF.

I'll be running DS2500s with BI disks. We'll see if they last the day.

I thought Yellowstuff were useless when I tried them, nowhere near as good as Redstuff.

So you'll be even slower than usual then?

Interesting to hear Dembo's assessment of yellow- vs redstuff pads. I have used a couple of sets of redstuff, now on my second set of yellow. I reckon yellow are better than redstuff for the track: they don't fade as quickly due to heat. I'm using Motul RBF600 fluid.

This is a dilemma I face. Often me and mates 'race' to the gym after work which is really narrow single lanes with loads of braking required. The reds have always been fine, whereas I have had fade from the yellows a few times. Think the pads gas up as it's not going to be fluid.

My brother has used yellows on the track without issues though.

I wonder whether it's fade you've been experiencing, or whether you haven't been getting the yellows hot enough? Yellows are supposed to withstand more heat than reds, although I have to say I'm very happy with their road performance and I haven't had any issues about getting them warm, even when driving most gently!

Whereas I thought the Yellowstuff were brilliant.

I had redstuff, which were good, but soft.

The Yellowstuff are harder pads, they resist fade longer and are the best pad I have ever fitted to a car.

Bearing in mind, these are the R compound which are apparently much better than the non R compund that Dembo used.

Firm favourite with me

Oh, and I was using R888s as well!
