I thought it might make it quicker round a circuit...I am planning to go on a track day with a mate who has an Audi S4 and being of a strongly competitve nature (which usually ends me up in strife) I want to give him a good run for his money

Figured that increasing the contact patch front and rear would retain the handling balance but 'raise the game' further to make up for the power defecit against the S4

Search in the "racing and competition" forum. It's quite common to run 225 wide fronts, but only after changing the front anti-roll bar for a stiffer than standard one.

If you want to be quicker round the track, get training. The S2000 isn't a Caterham, but it can still surprise a lot of 'faster' cars. I wouldn't worry about an S4 once you've some training. Except for the straights, he'll just see the S's pert behind disappearing into the distance....

subject to my employment continuing in the IT industry I am thinking of 'Spooning' my S2000 as Barwell Motorsports are just down the road

Now I've got a few thousand miles under my belt with this car, there's a few things that I fancy fine tuning to suit my tastes

I also anticpate 'tracking' this car now as opposed to using it as a daily driver so thinking of a few tweaks

I hear a resounding CHA CHING!!! from Barwell

Seriously tho', if you're thinking of tweeking, where are you starting. There's lots on the boards about Mugen, Spoon et al power train upgrades, but I've not seen too much about lightening.

Is there anywhere in the car that can loose a few kilos (roof motors, aircon, wheels)?

With the possible exception of brakes, it's a good idea to go on track in standard spec, then decide on mods once you've an idea how you want the car to behave on track.

If you want an idea what Spoon bits can do, grab me at Supermeet. (Assuming you're going... and I include a 'pain to the wallet' disclaimer )

sadly the wife is due to punch out the second sprog any moment so unable to attend as I would have like to have done so and combined with a tour of the lakes..

As you suggest I plan to track it and then see how it behaves on a track. I fancy lowering it for visual effect apart from anything else.

An uprated clutch is a consideration as recently I've been 'losing' out a bit with clutch slip on full bore upchanges but I am putting this down to being knackered more than anything

I am happy with the power but you can never have too much so looking at the exhaust manifold as an area to investigate a little more

I've more or less decided, make that 99.9% decided that I am going to have this car for keeps so it will become my 'project car'....hence thinking of Spoon. The fact they are 10 minutes drive a way is a big influencing factor it has to be said

Mein Gott! If she gets that angry with the kids, you'll never get away with spending money on the car !!!!

Oh you mean, 'giving birth to ...'

Extra kids'll be really handy for tuning the S2k. What do you get for one on eBay at the moment?

PS I also have 2 kids. I was asked, 'With 2 kids, why are you buying a 2 seater?'

Answer: 'I couldn't find a one seater ...'
