One tyre was shiny, the other still had some vestige of tread on it. So one was illegal and the other on the limit!! Would have been interesting if I had got pulled by the plod! My car had gone out without its PDI being done. Now have to drive a 1.6 Civic for a couple of days while they put on new wheels and front tyres. No its not in the FAQ.

As Neil says, get them changed over. I missed the boat with my previous set (the damage was already done) so changed my current set at around 5k.

Do you just need to change over the front tyres at approx 5k, what about the rears? Do they need changing?

rears don't seem to have the same problem in my experience (I have a garage roof full of discarded tyres and the rears wear evenly). Thing is to catch the fronts early enough as has already been suggested.
