fuel
Have you any evidence to back the claims up regarding tesco, other than hearsay or its 'x' so it must be shit?. Also what are these 'nasty chemicals'?
I can answer this fairly well.
Done two full tanks one of Momentum99 one of V-power.
Momentum99 drove fine, no power loss and got me 260 miles out of a full tank with 70% motorway driving averaging 26mpg.
V-Power also drove fine, no power loss and also got me 260 miles out of a full tank with 70% motorway mileage. 26mpg.
I'd go V-power right now personally, simply as for reasons unknown to me its 4p cheaper than Momentum99.

There are some good videos from Fifth Gear on Youtube on this
This one is quite old and compares BP Ultimate Vs V power Vs boggo 95 supermarket fuel

Then there is another one on those octane boosters you can buy

All quite interesting!
I use Tesco Momemtum 99 because it is most convinient, I see no difference if I use BP Ultimate or V- Power. I don't pay enough attention to fuel price to know the difference in cost, if the car needs a drink it gets one!
All petrol and fuel is full of nasty chemicals, benzene, MTBE and toleune being good examples! The quantity by volume of these is tightly controlled at the oil refinery under international and british standards. To be honest, I would highly doubt that Momentum is any different to V-Power, it is probably just re-branded. It would cost a fortune to research, develop and make your own strain of petrol that is different to anybody else's that a supermarket chain just wouldn't bother, they would use a product that is already made at refineries as it would be much cheaper!
I think it is a massive urban myth that supermarket fuel is any different to the oil company fuel, at the end of the day it is in BP/Shell best interests to have you believe their fuel is better, but is it, is it really? I think it is a load of BS and you should just use whatever high octane fuel you have easiest access to.
I used to be of the firm belief that higher octane fuels were a gimmick as well, but have since been proved wrong on that so you can take what I say with a pinch of salt, haha!

i would only recomend shell v-power
tesco momentum is higher octane(99) but cheaper quality fuel full of nasty chemicals,
in theory any super unleaded should be ok tho

I work in oil and gas exploration / production, and know how fuel is made and collected by the likes of Tesco etc, and a bit about the additive packages. The Doris is also a Chemical Engineer in the same industry

I have no issue with Tesco 99.
