Default Fuel filter

I just thought i would highlight this issue because it seems to get missed by most people when changing the fuel pump.

The fuel pump hanger/enclosure is actually a fuel filter itself. The sock attached to the pump is like the first line of defence and then the fuel pump hanger/enclosure has a paper like filter element.

I had an old one in the garage with broken clips so i cut it in half and this is what you can see. Blueprint part retails for about £40

I can confirm that the fuel goes from the fuel pump, through the short section of rubber hose, through the plastic housing into the side of the filter element and then out of the bottom of element where a channel runs directly up into the outlet port of the outer casing.

Was it very dirty?
Pictures do not work, don't think you can link directly to google pics.
