Default Fuel Question

Hi, My new S is a company car, and i have two fuel cards, one BP and the other ESSO so i have no option but to use these to fill her up, which in your opinion has the most suitable fuel for the car? as i cant use Shell optimax which some people have recommended. feedback please.

also whilst on the subject of fuel approximately how far will they go on a tank? if i drive "Normally" not all the way?

approximately how much to fill up the tank?

sooooooooo many questions and i haven't got it yet, the dealer phoned yesterday to say that had arrived and it was having its "Road test" i could collect it TODAY but my boss has to sign the paperwork and he is away on business until thursday next week. how sick do i feel. The guy at the dealership said "call by on your way home and take a look" KNOB that will make me feel sooooo much better.. NOT.
oh well only 6 1/2 days to wait or 156 hours or 9360mins oh the pain.....................

BP Ultimate i see as the next best thing to optimax,

But your car is designed to run on 98 Ron fuel and BP's is only 97.. you might need to explain this the your fleet manager..

It's an 05, so it's designed to run on whatever is available - 95 RON is perfectly adequate, but it will perform better on 97 RON or higher.

How far out of a tank? Anywhere between 200 and 300 miles, depending on how much right foot you're using. If the weather is good and the roads clear, it should be considerably closer to the former figure than to the latter!

I used both and never noticed any real differences TBH. I think I was drawn in by BP's advertising which made me think the "Ultimate" was best!

90% of the time I used Optimax though. (Mainly becase it was cheaper!!)

but until recently we've not even had 98 RON petrol readily available in the UK, have we? I thought the engine was set up for 97 RON in the UK and higher octane in Japan?

Last time I looked at Ultimate it was ridiculously expensive compared to Optimax. Didn't seem any better, and Esso SUL is fine, so I'd go for that.

JDM's are set to run on 100RON but not had any problems with mine, I run on SUL. At almost 93p a litre of Ultimate I am a bit reluctant to pay it TBH.

Ruckus - Easy on the Octane booster, I've herd bad things abut this, admitatdley i have tried it you get and fantastic results (the power should drop off after 8,300RPM ):

How long has optimax been around then ? It's 98RON and has been around for 4/5 year ?

I when i open the filler flap mine has a little sticker saying 98, nothing about 97.
