Default Gear box in 00 and 01 different?

after a driving a few s2k's I found a few of them quite rough, the gear box very rough and hard to get into gears some times even when the car was warm. A guy said the 00 and 01 gear boxes were very different? is this true?

Not that I know of - I thought that the US got a different set of ratios at some point - not sure though.

The S2000 has one of the best feeling gearboxes ever made, sounds like you're driving some pretty ropey cars.

Does it

Didn't notice any real difference coming from the MY00 car I had before.

Is it ratios

Both mine are notchy when cold but this is common. Changing the gearbox oil makes a difference!

Honda have buggered about with the synchro cones & detent springs a little.

Remember the recall for the 1-2nd graunch on the early cars?

Thought that double (or triple) coned one of the gears too, at the 04?

Dunno. Been asleep since then.

Is this something that can be requested when getting the car serviced? How much does it cost? - something I would definitely consider for my next fast approaching service.
