Default Gear Box Problem

Hi Chaps

My gear box has started to play up.

The Problem.
It crunches changing from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd gear. Now i got the car serviced on saturday, i asked them to change the gear box oil thinking it would solve the issue. They changed it and it was worse, so i went back and they changed it to 5/30 oil and its better, but not perfect by any means.

It's clear that the syncro's are not up to speed when i change gear, because if i pause for a moment when changing and then slot it into gear, its very smooth meaning the syncro is up to speed.

what would you chaps recommend? If this doesn't solve the problem the car is still under warranty for another 5 weeks so it will go back to get the syncro's replaced.

Please help.....(I have searched but can't fid the answer i need)
Thanks
Alex

Are you serious?!!!!

The gearbox oil is 75W80 the oil you have had put in will kill the gearbox in seconds.

Well whoever put that in get ready to sue them for a new gearbox. Look in the tech FAQ it's all there.

I don't think thats quite true Rich, if its SAE 5w30 is equivalent to 70/80. Its GL4/5 you need to worry about.

That sounds like engine oil. Have you mixed up the numbers?

Definatly not equivelent to 75W80 and it should be GL4, sounds like they have put engine oil in, not good!

Honda indeed used to recommend engine oil in the gearbox

It's the sulphur that the S2000 box doesn't like (hence why no GL5)

Your synchros are gone i'm afraid and you can change the oil all you want but it won't make any difference.
