Default gear knobs

as part of my planned interior refurb this winter, I'm thinking of recolouring the numbers / letters on my gear know from red to blue

any tips on how best to achieve this ?

Paint it in with a brush and a bit of cutting compound/scratch remover/polish should take off any you don't get perfectly in the recessed numbers while still leaving the numbers coloured.
