Default Gear knobs

Hi everyone...

for those of you who replaced your old worn gear knob, i'm interested to see which one you went for in replacement?

Anyone got a carbon mugen one off ebay? I've been looking at these or the Skunk2 weighted one from Tegiwa.

Show me some fitted pics

I use this in my 05...

Was expecting it to be a load of rubbish, but it's awesome!

I got one of these off ebay, I won the acution at £13 -

The genuine replacements are £230ish from lings which is ridiculous.

The one I got from ebay had really crappy quality paint used for the numbers so I moaned to the seller, got a £5 refund and then scraped out the red paint and used grey from the mrs' nail varnish collection to paint the letters and I'm happy with the results. I've kept the original gear knob for when I sell it if the new owner wants the original.

I have a very old round aluminium one, that some one gave me years ago that sits far lower than OEM , its polished and has no markings.

Whats this question of wear , or do u mean the etching/engraving , are you saying you need look as to the position of next gear to be selected and need instructions !

I would like to get a countersunk one at some point but it's not high on the agenda at the moment. Also my gaiter doesn't go right up to the base of the gear knob which bothers me more to be honest.

I used my one (link above), and I zip tied the gear gaiter, so it sits higher up the lever. You have to zip tied it from the inside if that makes sense. It's a bit fiddly.

It looks/feels perfect in the car IMO.

I got the Rick's knob. Nice size, bit heavier and sits lower. Pearl colour matches the radio door nicely, feels great. The only thing I'd say is don't get the gears etched on the top, as the laquer is applied before etching, and corrosion is starting to 'web' its way from the cut edge of the etching.

I also have a Skunk2 gear knob, feels great the first few times you use it, then you eventually just get used to it.
