General Tuning Questions - Induction etc
Hi Guys,
New member and 1st post as have just got my s2k a few weeks ago and now ready for some tuning.
Was looking at some different options and all the mugen stuff and although very nice, it is very expensive after just having shelled out a fortune for the car.
Just wondered what if you guys could let me know what the best induction kits are for the S2k with best performance gains, approximate costs and where to get them from in the UK ? I would also be interested in Exhausts.
Notices a few places selling the Spoon carbon air duct for the existing airbox. Is this any good and what sort of power gains are there to be had out of this item as looks very similar to the Mugen one just much cheaper.
Also noticed lot of ribbing of the old Porsche Boxsters on here. Just for the record, I had one too. My and mate in my S with the roof down, PB with roof up and 1 person. Killed him in a straight line with extra weight. My mate turns round and gives the pumped fist to the PB driver. Not a happy bunny !!

IMHO, you'll find it difficult to perform any mods which improve performance without spending lotsa $$$s. I don't know that any of the air induction products promise a bhp increase - & if they do it'll probably be marginal gains.
Exhaust replacement / wheel replacement can reduce weight. I had a passenger in the car at a meet recently, and straight away I noticed the performance hit.
EDIT: I'm sure that more technically minded bods will be along to add their 2p.

Supers2k - if you do a search for the items you are looking for you will find loads of threads, a caution though - it is a bit personal when it gets right down to it.
I personally am HKS tastic on the engine/exhaust side but the best advice I have been given by Brian is decide what you want to do, figure out what bits you need do it and let it bed in, if you change lots at one time you won't ever figure what made the change or what has made something degrade.
Weight reduction is a big saving as Chris says, but if you go to the TPI website they talk you throught the stage upgrades they offer and dyno tests to support the uprates.
I have made some changes, more to the handling than the engine, and reduced weight, but if you want signgifanct gains you are into warranty threatening turbo or supercharger territory.
