Default geodesy gps based camera warning

anyone tried fitting on of these in a stook?

http://www.morpheous.co.uk/

sounds very cunning - they have a database with
every camera in the UK and a GPS - it knows where
you are and how fast you are going.

it can even dial in and sync an updated database.

my s2k is not due for delivery until november -
is there anywhere to get power from in the dash,
or just the accessory port in back of the centre
console?

cheers

What "hearing"? I thought this was all done and dusted and their use deemed not to be illegal, after a hearing in the Court of Appeal.

PS I forgot to thank Cedric for making yesterday's day out possible, so.... Thanks Cedric!

I found this on the Net

http://www.beldirect.co.uk/law.htm#legal

Contrary to what I had been led to believe, this doesn't mention that it went to appeal, but neither does it say that an appeal is pending. I would have thought that, if an appeal was going to have been held, it would have to have been done way before now as the case was jusgement was given in January 1997)

I believe there's a hearing the end of this year to determine whether Radar Detectors are a means of stopping a policeman doing their job. You'll have to forgive my none legalease description. I know Lazer Jammers are "perverting the course of justice" I believe. I think radar detectors were going to be put under the same banner.

This is where the GPS system is marketing itself. It's not a police radar detector but an accident black spot locator. Obviously as speed camera's are only ever placed at accident black spots....

I was waiting for the verdict before investing.

Numerous attempts have been made for over 35 years to my knowledge to try to make various forms of radar detectors illegal. The law Lords in their wisdom have always decided that these detectors in the final analysis assist a driver to comply with the law, i.e. not exceed the speed limit! If on the other hand a user were to for example flash his lights at approaching motorists or otherwise warn others of the presence of speed traps, that has always constituted an offence of 'Obstructing Police In Tne Excecution Of Their Duty'.

Similarly, it's a widely held misconception that it is an offence to listen to police radio transmissions. It is only an offence to act unlawfully upon what you may hear.

It is a deep fundamental principal of English Law that has always prevented these radar detectors being made illegal despite numerous attempts.

The only thing which has changed which may have a bearing on the issue is that we are now of course a member of the E.E.C. and if Brussels declares them illegal then it's anybody's guess.

Of course that's what all the successful prosecutions were based on up to 1997. The use of a radar detector was deemed to be a breach of the Wireless Telegraphy Act!!
