Default Getting fuel out the tank

Right, the lovely scrapyard people are coming in a few days to take away whats left of my S2 following my accident, and consequent stripping it for parts.

I would like to get the fuel out of the tank, since there is a about 30 litres of the finest 99 ron in there. I was debating rigging up a 12v supply to the fuel pump and pumping it out, but is it simpler (and safe) to drill a small hole in the bottom of the tank?

Aren't fuel tanks plastic these days?

On a seperate note, if there are any sections you would like from the shell (rear quarters etc) now is the time to post on my for sale thread, entitled "Breaking part heavy 2002 S2"

Thanks all.

Dan

drill is a bad way of doing things - it'll go everywhere, and also likely to get fuel (more importantly the fuel vapour) in the drill itself.

pump is by far the best way. you can even pickup syphon pumps for next to naff all from Amazon and ebay. if your really tight, then a length of hosepipe

Don't think thats an option, 30L is very heavy, I brew beer 23L (5gal) is heavy enough just lifting at waist hight. pump/syphon is the way to go but no way sucking on a piece of hose!!!!!!

Use the cars pump as its there, it may take a while and you won't end up like a protesting Buddist monk.

Lowering it down on with a jack(s) and wooden planks/pallet contraption could work...?

Just depends what kind of tools Tango has available to him I guess

Definitely agree the pump option would be the simplest option.

If you suck it out with a hose, do your best not to get it in your mouth. I took a swig once and FML the burning and "petrol burps" stay with you for DAYS. Most unpleasant. Do the pump thing.

What wires would be going to the pump?

12v, earth, ecu signal/immobiliser signal.

Anything i've forgotten? I'll have a look at the plug later on.

Thanks all.
