Default Getting used to the LSD

Yes the type that gives you mind altering experiences.... going round corners

Having never properly driven a car with LSD it feels wierd. The sensation feels like the back end is about to go, but thinking about it, I guess it is the sensation of the outside wheel travelling on a tighter radius. I am cautious not to push too hard as I don't want to introduce my suspension to the kerb.

Is this right or am I on drugs?

Dave

I dunno about LSD, i am getting more concerned about Skin Cancer! Getting fried at the moment, but I suppose when a trip to the shops ends up being a 30 mile VTEC'in journey I only have myself to blame

Alistair, within a week of acquiring the S, I took to putting a bottle of sun tan lotion in the top secret compartment so that I'm always prepared for those impromptu 50 mile trips for some petrol and a bottle of mile

Dave, the S is the first car I've driven regularly which has an LSD fitted, and I found it took a bit of getting used to. Don't worry - you'll adjust to it.

I really notice the impact when driving round tightish bends - ones where 60 seems fairly quick. With the steering set a constant angle you can make the car push out (understeer) or tuck-in (oversteer-ish) just by coming on and off the throttle.

What's happening is the torque biasing gubbins (technical term) are changing the split between the wheels and 'steering' the car.

It feels really good if you get the corner exactly right so you're trailing the throttle up to the apex then pour on the power.

If you do it wrong, then you end up really untidy!!!!

... then again we may just be using the same drug

It just takes a bit of getting used to, feels like the car is 'twisting' around you as you modulate the power doesn't it? it's quite normal, and once you get used to it you can really exploit the grip it gives you in corners.
In the Locost I have a live axle setup, it really makes you appreciate the LSD of the S2000, the live axle is great fun, but for racing I'd prefer an LSD.

San, go play Gran Turismo which will teach you all about 1 way, 1.5 way and 2 way LSDs, and how slip angle settings affect handling. Amazing game.

Alternatively, play Mario and it`ll help you understand an Italian plumbers insatiable appetite for flashing mushrooms, whilst trying to avoid Koopa Troopers in his never ending quest to rescue Princess Daisy.

Which is similar.
