Obviously most of us would choose the S because that's what we did choose

If I was changing cars tomorrow I would be looking at:

1. R34 Skyline GTR
2. NSX
3. 350Z

They're the only other 3 cars I would swap the S for.

Ok Mr Pedantry, You are correct the title is a little misleading but I wanted to introduce and emphasize the fact that the UK forummers, of which you'd expect there to be many on the UK site, have far more choice than I.

The good news is that had I been in the UK, the S would still have been tying first place with a 111R for my money and affection.
i prefer "Mr Anal"

At time I bought my 6 month old S could have bought 4 year old Boxter S for about 6k more. I was tempted but the old Boxter S didn't excite me when I drove it and I was put off by potentially high maintenance costs. However, the new Boxter S is a much better (and more expensive) car than the others by all accounts. If I was spending that sort of money though, I would go for a low mileage 5/6 year old 911 convertible...I'm sure they must be plentiful in Dubai.

There are certainly more 911 Cabs than S2000s but you still have the maintenance bills to contend with down the line.

And to be honest - I don't like how they look - the coupes are great but the cabs look a bit off in my eyes. Seems silly to take the roof of a perfectly good car - at the S was designed as a roadster from the off.

The S alone... None of the others.

... Or ...

Aston Martin DB9 ( Yeah... Right )
TVR Tuscan2
TVR Tamora
Ford Mustang
All said & done I'd probably go back to my previous ride. A Chevvy Camaro. But go for the 5.7ltr V8 instead of the 3.8ltr V6 that I had.
That was very tail happy as well.

I'm a big fan of the Alpina Z4 at the moment but its too expensive for my co. car scheme. Next choice is between the S2000, 350Z coupe, Scoob STI PPP, and new Golf R32 (if its out).

If there were no S2000, then an S800 or an NSX.

I should say the Z4, but it looks like it's been though a hedge in the showroom.

The SLK is clever and the 350 sounds lovely, but it is overstyled and still has that 'image' thing. The options list pisses me off too, as doeas the fact that it comes with an absurd array of engines. Talk about variable weight distribution.

Which leaves the Boxster. Except they've ruined the look of it. However, one could now install a Cayman engine, thus showing up the 911 for the marketing fraud that it is.

I still have reservations about the look of the convertible Z and that it has its own gravity, but it avoids the stigma that haunts the others, to a varying degree.

I had this dilemma too & this is how I figured it out:-

Z350 (either) - couldn't drive a car called a 'fairlady'
Boxster (either) - don't like Boxter drivers so it would have to be a 911/996
SLK - Handbag/ Accessory cars not 'drivers' cars
Z4 - It's a BMW isn't it - doesn't that stand for 'Black Man's Willy'?
