I tested the old 986 Boxster S for several weeks when I still had the S2000 and happily concluded it was not worth the premium....... the new Boxster is SOOOO much better than the old one I would take a 2.7 Box 987 over the 986S any day its virtually as quick (same margin as the S2000) but handles better, has a much better (IMHO) interior and looks better.
LloydSix if you can stretch to the 2.7 new shape Box make sure you test drive one back to back with the 986S..... I think you'll be surprised at how much better the new car is.
The 987S is an amazingly capable car BUT I don't find it as rewarding to drive as the S2000..... and although the sound of the flat six at full chat is nice I still miss the brash airbox off S2k!
