Default Got My New Diff Fitted Tonight

After months of cocking around waiting for bearings and seals, the transmission specialist to have a spare couple of days to install al the bits and me getting back off holiday I've finally got my new gears fitted.

I managed to get a set of the 4.625 limited edition gears, that were cryogenically treated, from PJL only a week or so before he left us. I did say to him I'd post my findings after installation so thanks for the bits Peter and I hope your still following the forum !!!

I havn't really given it any beans yet!! I took it upto about 6000 revs on the way home but I'm not sure about running the gears in.

There's no whine or any noise from the diff and my mechanic said I should be ok to go for it but I'm not sure.

So, can I drive it like I knicked it or should I drive it for ~500 miles off cam and check the diff oil before giving it rice?

Obviously I havn't yet noticed any gains in performance yet but I'll post my findings once I've given it some.

Andy

Andy, I think you mean 4.625

Did you only buy the final drive of him, not the entire diff?

I was going to say, 6.25 would be ridiculous

Personally I would go steady on it for a few hundred miles - but don't know how it has been treated.

Haha - I love red wine and stand corrected !!! Thanks Craig !!!

Yes I only bought the gears, Peter used his own diff to mount his 4.9 gear set in.

Gears from PJL, Diff from Mans Best and bearings and seals from Honda, then assembled by S.P. Components and installed by my local independant.

I've got a 250 mile trip to do on Saturday, hopefully I'll restrain myself, so tempting though !!!

Andy to be on the safe side wear the gears in.

250-500miles should be enough and after 1k get the diff oil changed too.

So did you get the seals i suggested?, IMO i just puts you on the safe side

Post back how you find them
