Default GPS based performance meter

Hi,

I'm aware of a GPS based meter called the DriftBox.

I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a Sat-Nav product on the market (or in development) with software that can measure performance (it'd seem to make sense if a sat-nav and performance meter could be a single device..?)

Cheers...

The basics - acceleration, and anything that can be calculated from speed and acceleration (power output, G's). Much like the DriftBox

Although I'm not too bothered about knowing my power-slide angle, to be fair...

Oddly enough there is a performance box (made by the same people) which does all of that and more, it even liks to google earth so your performance data can be overlayed on the track.

It's

Interesting to see that bookatrack are cross linked from the performance box information.

Bookatrack make a big thing about absolutely no timing on their trackdays (invalidates their insurance), so I wonder what their view would be on using this device on the track. One could argue it was just doing data logging, but you couldn't help but time the laps too.

I cant see how GPS systems would work due to the accuracy or lack of pinpoint accuracy, DGPS probably a different story.

If you want to measure performance your better looking at a device called "Gtech" not that crappy

The media reviews compare the Driftbox to some "proper" data logging equipment and they appear to conclude that the accuracy was good. But you can't always be sure that what you read is the truth

I cant remember the exact accuracy of GPS IIRC correctly it was 10 metres or something???

Still id go for a Gtech, different principle in determing performance.
