Default Great drives database

I don't know if this idea has been brought up before, but I wondered how people feel about submitting really good drives in their area. When you're out and about in the S and in a part of the country you don't really know a great drive could be just around the corner.

So is this a or idea ?

I'm not too technically minded but I'm sure it would be possible to break the country up into regions and submit accordingly, maybe having places of interest and more importantly good pubs included.

I think this a great idea, and after we did a dales drive we found on the internet, we were going to try and work some out. However, it is a lot of work - lots more than you think, and you run the risk of clogging up your roads with nutters on bikes and alerting the police to your favourite routes.

I think you'll find the nutters on bikes already know where these routes are

As a devoted biker for almost 40 years, I think you are clearly misinformed about the bikers fraternity. Sure there are the odd dubious bikers, but mostly they are the most reliable crowd you'll meet anywhere if you take the trouble to talk to them.

I've often considered this for scotland, but wouldn't want to publish anything - I would not want to alert joe public to my fave roads, in case they became congested.

I am happy to divulge the best routes I know in scotland to forum users - BW already has an old road atlas of mine with hundreds of miles of routes highlighted. I did have to make him sign a confidentiality agreement though

I've already started compiling one, got a lot of stuff from people here, and from Piston Heads. Very weary about publishing anything though
