Default Had first service

Will be taking the S back to the dealer because I have noticed that since having its first service there is a rattle coming from the engine, sounds like tappets rattling, when the engine is started and is cold. Anyone else had any experience of this? If so what was the cure?

doesn't sound good.. get it straight back down there..

they left a ratchet on my mums motor at service, left the adjustable cam pulley on my mate's RS loose and left spark plugs loose on my bro's car after a tune..

trust noone

I have a rattle that is only there when cold for about 1 minute. Dealer first denied it existed then eventually agreed it was there. so far they don't know what it is and claim to have asked Honda who also say they've not had any similar problems.

This rattle was there before first service though, i noticed it about a month before. Could be the same??

I have a 2005 model salty and I heard a rattle today for about the first minute after turning the engine over - engine was cold. Interesting I will have to see if it does it again and get it straight to a dealer if it does!

You may want to check the oil levels (even though you've just had a service !).
I used to get this rattle noise when starting her up but i also reg check the oil levels as they need to be at the max all the time, no point just adding 1 litre here 1 litre there, she needs topping up.
Apparently the S uses 1 litre of oil for every 1000 miles covered !
But DEF take her back to the dealer !

oil use is an interesting point. My car seems to use virtually no oil at all! Since it was serviced in July I have done 2,000 miles and the oil level has only moved very slightly. it was like that from new. I suggested to the mechanic at the dealer that this might be a symptom of why i get a rattle. He seemed to think it was unusual to use so little oil.
Let us know what the dealer says..
