Default Hardtop strikers

Hello

I just won a hardtop on ebay and i got a fitting kit of someone in the forum last week.

My car is a 99 think the hardtop is 04 will my soft top strikers be alright with the hardtop?

Yes, but have a look at the condition of your current ones as they can wear out pretty well.

Yes the hardtop can use the installed strikers, but if the roof rattles it will be the strikers. Some on here use a piece of tubing over the hook catchment thing to tighten up the mechanism. (see FAQ) I went and bought another pair of strikers that I use exclusively for the hardtop. I believe there was also some problems with the strikers in early days in that they were 'soft' and wore quickly, especially with the soft top going up and down regularly

think ill give honda a ring and order some for when i get the hardtop sprayed.

I just replaced my strikers. The original ones were still on the car and only seemed to be worn slightly, however, this was enough to cause loads of rattling and knocking when driving on uneven surfaces.

A previous owner had tried to cure it by suffing wrappers and bits of plastic into the recess where the catch pins go

I've put some red vacuum hose on my pins (to match the red interior) and to prevent future wear on the strikers.
