Default Have I been nicked???

Travelling anti-clockwise on the southbound section of M25 yesterday (Sunday 8th Feb) when I spotted a guy with camera on one of the bridges (around junction 8). Although I hit the anchors and slowed down to 65mph by the time I went under the bridge, I know I was over the speed limit on the approach.

I'm now concerned I've been nicked but I'm holding out some hope as
a) the guy wasn't in uniform
b) the car on the bridge didn't look like a police car, marked or unmarked (a green Peugot estate).

He was definitely tracking me with the camera as he changed angles as I got closer to the bridge but speaking to some friends today, apparentely there's a crackdown by the DVLA on road tax evaders and they're using cameras to record number plates of cars on the road.

Anyone got any thoughts or words of comfort?

He'd almost certainly have been in uniform if it was a speed camera.
Maybe he was a car spotter?

It could be a survey of road use. Couple of years ago, I received a letter through the post looking very official. Upon opening it, my car details were at the top of the letter and it read something like 'Are you the owner of the above vehicle? You were spotted driving Southbound along the A1M....' at this point my arse was twitching slightly. After further reading, the local council were doing traffice surveys and wanted to know if this was my daily route.

This sounds bad but I'm not sure. Anywhere between 80 and 90. What can I say, beautiful winters day, clear run of road, S2000 running great. In retrospect I'm lucky it wasn't higher.

I dont know of any hand held devices that take photo's, so it was prolly a survey or maybe a laser - if it was laser they would have come after you, you may have slowed in time

A local traffic cop tells me they dont worry about 80-90's , they wait for something more interesting to come along......... as they always do .
