Head unit

Additional looms are dependent on what head unit you're fitting.
For the dash controls you will more than likely need extra an extra loom - again which one will depend on your head unit brand.
Good write up here for an Alpine unit. The first bit on how to remove the original stereo will apply to everyone.

It's a relatively easy job to do, so long as you don't rush and break clips or lose screws when removing the old unit

I've just changed the head unit; easy - just follow the video in wobbly's linky to get the cover off (don't forget if you have a facelift you need to release the centre console to do it without breaking the clips) - hardest bit was getting the brackets off the OEM unit. Make sure you have some spare bolts in case you need to replace them...

I have a facelift and didn't need to do anything to the centre console
The whole thing is a lot of poking and checking, but when you have the bottom clips popped out and the top one are starting to loosen, you're almost there. Just got to focus on getting the bottom part of the door out and the rest will follow.
Make sure your screwdriver is a very snug fit and if it is difficult, just apply a tiny movement over and over until you hear the crack of it releasing, otherwise you can easily round it. This is from recent experience!!
Overall, the easiest of any car I've had though. The clips are so much nicer to deal with that the usual cage setup in most cars
