Default Headlight flickers then goes off...

Hi guys,

just wandering if anyone has had this problem.

My headlight bulb went off a few days ago, when flicking the headlights on the headlight will flicker for a second then go off.

If I turn the headlights off and on again the same happens, flickers but very dimm, then goes off.

Is it more likely to be a ballast than a bulb?

Cheers

Yeah, sounds like the ballast. I had that problem with a Clio 172 I used to own and it turned out to be the ballast.

You can just disable to OEM ballast and just use a one from ebay.

My A3 did the same, turned out to be the bulb. Swap the bulbs from the other side and see if the fault follows the bulb or stays with the ballast.

Never worked with car HIDs but when I did work with HIDs in theatre lighting, that is the exact thing the lamps used to do before they snuffed it.

When you take the lamp out, if there is a load of white crap or you can see a hole/protusion in the glass it's had it.

Not a great picture, but the bulb shape in the lamp will be deformed and much bigger.
